# Data Retention Policy

> How long Commure Scribe retains audio recordings, notes, and other patient data.

Here's how long your data is retained, and what happens when you delete a scribe.

## Retention Period

Patient demographic data, audio recordings, transcripts, and generated clinical outputs are all retained for **6 years**.

## Notes

Notes remain accessible in your account for the retention period above, or until you delete them yourself, whichever comes first.

## Deleting a Scribe

When you delete a scribe, it's removed from your account view. It isn't immediately erased from our backend — data retention regulations require us to retain it in encrypted storage for the remainder of the 6-year retention period, accessible only to authorized staff for legal and audit purposes.
